The Peekskill Youth Board was established in order to advocate for the needs of the young people in our city under the age of 21. The Board serves as an advisory group to the Youth Bureau, suggesting programs and services as well as providing real, hands-on support to programs as needed. Members are expected to help out with Youth Bureau activities such as Shining Stars, Men Who Cook, and other celebrations and events throughout the year. Meetings are held once a month, at which time the operations of the Youth Bureau are reviewed and planning for future events is undertaken. In addition, the members of the board are expected to directly advocate for the programs, services, and facilities which are needed in order to properly serve the youth of Peekskill.
The Board may consist of up to 28 members, and a strong effort is made to have a diverse group who represent various constituencies within the community.
