Human Relations Commission Around a TableThe Peekskill Human Relations Commission (HRC) worked with the Peekskill School District to reform the application packet for the entire district as per guidelines provided by the New York State Department of Education and the Attorney General's Office. Our concern, in particular, was for our large Hispanic community here in Peekskill as well as the community at large.

Revisions to be made to the registration packet include:

  • Removing questions regarding immigration status
  • Removing questions regarding drugs taken during pregnancy
  • Allowing parents to identify children as being from multiple races
  • Including disclaimers of confidentiality in places where the questions ask for health records
