Hearings & Board Overview
For property owners wishing to make an appearance, the BAR hears the complaints against their assessments and reviews the supporting documentation. For those not making personal appearances, their written complaints and supporting documentation are also reviewed. The BAR is a quasi-judicial body charged with judicial responsibility to get all the facts, and apply appropriate laws and reasoning to the facts in a fair and judicious manner. They have the authority to reduce an assessment if warranted. The meeting on Grievance Day lasts late into the evening and subsequent meetings may be required, depending on the volume of grievances. A stipend is paid to this service.
