Message from the Chief

As the nature and complexity of emergency incidents continue to expand, so does the need for today’s fire service to be better prepared in responding and mitigating these emergencies. The Peekskill Fire Department is committed to providing our members with the necessary tools and abilities to competently respond and operate in a manner in which has become expected throughout our City, our State and our Country. Our department continues to strive to provide for a safer and healthier work place for our firefighters, in large part by adhering to national standards set forth by organizations such as NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health).

Our department is comprised of 28 full-time career staff, supplemented by approximately 50 volunteer staff. Our career and volunteer members are dedicated to improving the quality of life of our residents through emergency response, fire prevention, public education and community service. We are honored and privileged to serve our residents and desire to provide exemplary service no matter how big or small the need. We are proud to work collaboratively with the Peekskill Police Department, Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Peekskill City School District and so many other wonderful organizations, all with the common goal of supporting and encouraging the citizens of the City of Peekskill. 

Emergency Medical Services:

In addition to being New York State Certified Firefighters, our career staff are all trained New York State Emergency Medical Technicians. Despite the nature and severity of the incident, we routinely respond to assist the Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps, in order to provide immediate basic life support to our residents. Not only do we provide on-scene care, we also support our Ambulance Corps with patient transport.
