
The City of Peekskill Police Department divides it's Patrol Division into three, eight hour, tours of duty. Patrol, which is the backbone of any police department, is the first to respond to a variety of different calls for service. These calls vary and include; crimes in progress, past criminal activity, medical emergencies, fires, and civil disputes. Each officer assigned to the patrol division has completed a six month course of instruction at the police academy and receives over 24 hours of in-house training per year. Many of the department's patrol officers are members of other units within the police department including the Tactical Response Unit (TRU), Bicycle Patrol, DARE Unit, and Anti-Crime Unit.
