Department of Information Technology

The Director, Greg Matera, oversee the entire network infrastructure for the entire city, which includes the Police Department, Fire Departments, Parks & Recreation, and City Hall, Department of Public Works. The department is responsible for maintaining and updating computers, and telecommunications equipment. The department is also responsible for maintaining and updating the various software utilized by every department within the City.

Other responsibilities of the Information Management Department::

· Computer purchases and upgrades.

· Internet connectivity

· Cable franchise negotiations and transfers

· Network security

· Telephone and network wiring

· PC and server Installation, repair, maintenance and upgrades

· Determining software and hardware needs for each department.

· Connectivity between the City offices to all remote locations

· Day to day operations of the network systems

· Coordination of technology purchases among various departments

· Geographic Information Systems

· Document Imaging and retention

· Purchase of Copiers, Fax Machines, Printers

· Police software systems

· Police Record Management systems

Microsoft Windows XP is the standards for all computers in the City. All Servers run Microsoft Windows 2003. Microsoft Office is the application suite that the City uses.
