Climate Action Planning Forum

The City of Peekskill is among 7 municipalities (funded by ARRA stimulus dollars) to catalog energy expenses (and inventory greenhouse gas emissions) and develop climate action plans, which will be the subject of a 2 hour public work shop: Climate Action Planning Forum, 12/8/2011, Thursday, 4:00-6:00 pm, at Cortlandt Town Hall, located at 1 Heady St. Cortlandt Manor, NY.

This session will be lead by the consultants (Ecology & Environment and Blue Springs Energy) for the benefit of the public and volunteers in Peekskill, Cortlandt and Croton.  It will focus on how our communities can turn the recommendations from the recently completed Greenhouse Gas Inventories into results.

You are all invited, as is the general public.  The purpose of this meeting is to begin the climate action planning process for each municipality, based on the inventories. After January 1, 2012, our consultants will be done and we will take over the process.

This process will benefit greatly from collaboration among the staff and volunteer committees in our 3 communities on areas of common impact, e.g. energy efficiency in municipal facilities, street lighting, etc.  We have been working closely with Croton and Cortlandt, so this forum is a good opportunity for members of the public and stakeholders to share information and exchange ideas.

To register for the event, go to: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/2555758342

The meeting will be open to "walk ups," but registration helps us have the right number of handouts, chairs, etc.   We hope to see you there!   Please share this with others who might be interested.
