Artist Certification Committee

To obtain an artist loft for living and working, the City's Artist Certification Committee must certify an individual as an artist, defined as:
A. "An individual who practices one of the fine, design, graphic, musical, literary, computer or performing arts; or an individual whose profession relies on the application of the above-mentioned skills to produce creative product; i.e. architect, craftsperson, photographer, etc.
The Artist Certification Committee shall review all applications for a determination of eligibility. The working group selects the Chairman. The Committee is a five-person committee with one City representative and one representative from NDC. Two alternatives will also be appointed and may serve when a Committee member is not available.

(1) Director of Planning, Development and Code Enforcement.
(2) Four artists and computer specialists.
(3) Two alternates (artists and computer specialists).

B. The Certification Committee will make all final determinations regarding certification. All determinations will be made by a simple majority vote based on all of the information provided. The Committee meetings must be attended by a quorum (four members) for a valid vote to be taken.
