Soccer

The Peekskill Parks & Recreation Department is now taking registration for their Fall Youth Soccer Program.  Please complete the attached flyer and return along with payment to the Recreation Department, 1 Robin Drive, Peekskill, NY 10566.

The Peekskill Parks and Recreation Youth Soccer Program runs on Sundays in the Spring and Fall of each year for children ages 4-12.  At each level, both beginners and intermediate players can develop individual and team skills, as well as, an understanding of the game of soccer.

Age groups:

4/5 year old group   6-8 year old group
9/10 year old group   11/12 year old group


4/5 year old group:
The goal of the 4/5 year old group is to introduce the players to the basic skills of soccer, which include: dribbling, passing, shooting, throw-ins, and ball control.  At this level the program is focused on drilling and building a foundation for the game of soccer.
   Equipment: size 3 ball
     Shin guards (required)
     Soccer cleats (optional)
     Comfortable clothes to run around in!
     Water/drink to stay hydrated

6-8 year old group:
The goal of the 6-8 year old group is to continue to learn and improve on the basic skills, as well as, work as a team.  Players are introduced to corner kicks, goal kicks, and positioning and movement on the field.  Games begin at this level and are learning based. 
   Equipment: size 4 ball
     Shin guards (required)
     Soccer cleats (optional)
     Sports attire
     Team Jersey (provided by Park & Rec)
     Water/drink to stay hydrated

9/10 year old group:
At this level, players should be familiar with the basic skills and concepts of the game.   Along with a review of the basic skills, more advanced drills and techniques are introduced, such as, the give and go, crossing, and set plays.  Games follow the basic rules.
   Equipment: size 5 ball
     Shin guards (required)
     Soccer cleats (optional)
     Sports attire
     Team Jersey (provided by Park & Rec)
     Water/drink to stay hydrated

11/12 year old group:
In this age group players can apply, at a higher level, the skills and concepts they have learned.  More advanced set plays, foot skills, and movement on the field will be covered.  Games are exciting and give players a chance to work as a team and also use their individual skills.
   Equipment: size 5 ball
     Shin guards (required)
     Soccer cleats (optional)
     Sports attire
     Team Jersey (provided by Park & Rec)
     Water/drink to stay hydrated
