The U.S. Census Bureau released figures for population in Westchester County and all of its municipalities. The City of Peekskill’s 2010 population figure is now 23,583. This is a 5.08% increase from the 2000 figure of 22,441. In addition, the city’s number of total housing units increased 7.25% from 9,053 units in 2000 to 9,709 units in 2010. The City’s increase in population was driven by a 77% increase in the Hispanic and Latino population (2010 figure 8,713) and a 27% increase in the Asian population (2010 figure 682).
