The City of Peekskill’s Office of Economic Development (OED) serves as a powerful ally for businesses seeking a new location as well as for those currently operating in the city. OED is an office of the Department of Planning, Development, and Code Assistance dedicated to growing the economy of the City of Peekskill through aggressive and effective programs and services that result in business attraction, creation, retention, expansion and transition.
Business Information
OED provides comprehensive market and demographic data that can help businesses make informed decisions. This includes data on population, labor and employment trends, commercial real estate, corporate activity, housing, taxes, infrastructure, and education.
Business Assistance
Provide an objective, confidential, and free service of identifying possible real estate locations in the city for new or expanding commercial businesses. This makes site selection more efficient and tailored to the requirements of a specific business.
OED coordinates the delivery of business assistance programs and services, provided by the city, the Peekskill Industrial Development Agency (PIDA), state, and area utilities. These programs and services include technical assistance for new businesses or manufacturers, financing, sales and property tax abatements, grants for the creation of new jobs, and rebates for investing in energy efficient equipment. City of Peekskill programs include The Grow Peekskill Fund and the Commercial Façade Revitalization Deferred Loan Program.
As the leading advocate for Peekskill businesses, OED provides guidance and assistance when problems arise. Small and medium sized businesses do not have the resources or the time to find their way through the maze of government agencies. OED can serve as the liaison and make the appropriate connections or help to cut through the red tape.
