The Cooling Center is now open!

Due to the high tempature and extreme heat, the City of Peekskill is opening the cooling center located in the Nutrition Room of the Nieghborhood Center from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Tonight's weather indicates that we will be having 90 degee temps beginning tomorrow through Sunday inclusive. Please make arrangement to have our Cooling center open for the next four days.

The NY Jr. American Legion Baseball Tournament will take place at Peekskill Stadium from July 28 through August 1. This five day event includes an opening reception and skills tournament followed by two days of games with playoffs on Saturday at 5pm and 7:30pm and a championship game (if necessary) Sunday morning at 10am

The answer to this question can be found in Peekskill, N.Y., population 25.000, where an enterprising individual had a vision.

Michael Miner grew up in Peekskill, and wanted to do something good for his town. He had a professional background in broadcast television and found the existing government channel to be sadly lacking.

"There was one VHS playback machine and an antiquated graphics machine for bulletin board announcements," he said.

Due to the extreme heat the Nutrition Center at 4 Nelson Ave will be open from 10a-6p as a Cooling Center

The Mount Olivet Baptist Church (MOBC) announces the kickoff of Faith In Action, a unique collaboration that will impact our community in a positive way. Faith In Action is a day that encourages our entire congregation to join hands in a non-traditional form of worship through community service. Our goal is to utilize over 100 volunteers of all ages and abilities to help others, whether painting rooms, assembling baskets of comfort, picking up litter or performing minor home maintenance repairs.
